HINA & MAUI: THE STORY OF HAWAIIAN TAPA MAKING
06/10/11-06/10/11 5:00pm - 7:00pm Hina & Maui: The Story
of Hawaiian Tapa Making (Hina & Maui: Ka Mo'olelo no ke Kapa
o Hawai'i Nei), will take place Friday June 10th at 5:00 pm at
Bailey House Museum in honor of Kamehameha Day. This original
production will feature a presentation of the legend of Hina
and Maui in hula and chant written by kumu hula Hokulani Holt.

06/11/11-06/11/11 10:00am - 5:00pm A colorful floral parade
through LahainaTown at 10 am features Pau riders on horses decorated
with exotic island flowers representing each major island. The
community parade includes marching bands, floats and more, all
honoring King Kamehameha the Great's families. An awards ceremony
and arts festival take place at Banyan Tree Park with island
food and crafts, pau dressing and riding demonstrations, plus
Hawaiian entertainment. Free admission; 9am to 5pm.

MULTI MEDIA MARATHON 06/24/11-06/24/11 7:00pm
- 10:30pm Multi media marathon features Ebb & Flow Arts multi
media group - musicians, dancers, visual artist from Maui, plus
special guest artists. Audience involvement occurs with multi
media experiments in Music, Dance and painting. Group improvs
also occur with audience members. Painting to live music
in real time involves several Maui-based painters and renowned
jazz musicians.

MAUI OKINAWAN FESTIVAL: "HASHI KAKIIN" (BUILDING BRIDGES)
06/25/11-06/25/11 10:00am - 3:00pm The Maui Okinawan Kenjin
Kai (MOKK), along with co-sponsor Maui Mall, will hold its Maui
Okinawan Festival on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
at the Maui Mall in Kahului. ""Hashi Kakiin""
(Building Bridges) is the theme of the Festival being chaired
by Jason Hondo, with lots of support from MOKK members and friends.
The entertainment program will feature
continuous Okinawan music and dance performed by homegrown talent
from Maui, as well as performers from Oahu. Taiko and sanshin
players as well as martial arts demonstration will also take
the stage.

20TH ANNUAL HAWAIIAN SLACK KEY GUITAR FESTIVAL
"MAUI STYLE"
06/26/11-06/26/11 1:00pm - 7:00pm Festival will be celebrating
it's 20th Year on the island of Maui. As in the past, festival
will feature 15 plus artists that are known in the Slack Key
Guitar Genre. Also at the festival will be island products,
island cuisine, community booths, and festival merchandise.
Also, attendees will have a chance to win free prizes and signup
for a free guitar giveaway. FestivaL is free to the
general public.

MAUI COMMUINITY BAND - CLASSICAL MUSIC
CONCERT
06/30/11 The Maui Community Band will perform a Classical Music
Concert featuring a lineup of compositions ranging from contemporary
Hawaiian to classical music at two separate, "high profile"
locations on Maui. The June 30th concert will take place
at the Queen Kaahumanu in Kahului to provide the same entertaining
performance geared more for local music lovers residing in Central
Maui's population centers. These concerts will be promoted to
visitors and local residents as a FREE special attraction to
highlight community cultural appreciation.

2011 MAUI INVITATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL -
4TH OF JULY CONCERT IN THE PARK
07/04/11 This element of the MMIF series has proven to be very
popular with local residents and tourists alike, as a positive,
family-oriented special activity to celebrate Independence Day
on the island of Maui. This concert will feature a large
Community Band comprised of local musicians, music students and
visiting performers performing a range of compositions, including
pieces from the Hawaiian music arrangement commissioned from
Carl Strommen, contemporary jazz and classical music. This
year's event will include mini-performances on stages around
Lahaina's Front Street in addition to the main stage Band Concert,
which will be anchored by the 75 member Maui Community Band and
culminate in a spectacular July 4th Fireworks display.

BATTLE OF THE PIANISTS 07/16/11-07/16/11 7:00pm
- 10:00pm Several area pianists will perform works for one, two
and three pianos at Maui's premiere facility for pianos, Maui
Music Conservatory, Ruth Murata, Director.
